FFL Requirements

FFL COPIES:  Firearms are only shipped to FFL dealers and only to their “Premise Address” (that’s ATF law, not ours). Before shipping, we need a clear, legible, signed copy of the your dealer's license with dealer's phone plus your auction number. There are four ways you can get it to us:  (1) By USPS first-class or Priority Mail.  (2) Scan it with a desktop scanner then email it to us.  (3) Get an email copy from your dealer and forward it to us.  (4) Just have your dealer Email it to us. Please do not email photographs of license copies from your smartphone as they rarely seem to be good enough!

Also, it is solely your responsibility to provide us with the FFL copy. Trust me, it’s not a good idea to rely on the dealer to send it to us—if you can, get it from him first! Remember, dealers really don’t like you buying from somewhere else anyway. If you don’t have a dealer yet, click on this link to find one in your area: GunBroker FFL Dealer Locater. Thanks again for your diligence.

PICKUP AT YOUR DEALER: One nice thing about having a tracking number (which you’ll get) is knowing when your new gun is going to be delivered to your dealer. Ask your dealer what time of the day he usually gets FedEx or USPS shipments. Then, you can be there Johnny-on-the-spot when your new gun comes in! That way you can be there when the carton is opened and prevent everybody in the shop from messing with your new gun, or swiping some little surprise we might have included for you (believe me, these are common occurrences). I had pre-FFL experiences where my gun was left on the counter all day for anyone to pick it up, dry-fire it, etc.! Boy was I pissed! If you have a descent dealer you’re working with, ask him not to open your shipment before you get there—as long as you’ll be there the same day of delivery. By law, the dealer has to log in all firearms within 24 hours of receiving them, but he will probably want to open the carton during the day of shipment, with or without your presence. I know I’m going to get flack for telling you this secret.

HOURS OF OPERATION:  Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Mountain Time. Weekends vary because of gun shows, etc., but we try to be available as much as we can. We will do our best to answer emails at cau@consignment-arms-usa.com as quickly as possible. Thanks again.
