I. I’m going to venture to say that this is probably the rarest, most awesome, most desirable Marlin Camp 45 you’ve ever seen—that you’ve been long waiting for! And, it is “As New”, unfired, in the factory box! The Consignor stated the gun was never fired since new or after customizations were completed—and upon my inspections, I believe this to be absolutely true! This one-of-a-kind carbine is truly a great value—and well worth the money! Get prices on all this (if you can), add it up—then take a close look!

II. The Camp models last to be made (“Deluxe”) had upgraded wood stocks with checkering, heavier bolt handles, and a manual hold-open, etc. If you look closely at other Camp guns you’ll see the differences. Photo 43 (in “Large Photos”) is for reference to show the old style bolt-handle. Included with this one-of-a-kind creation, is the original factory 7rd stainless steel magazine. And everything you see in the photos is included, except for the gold-trimmed Choate stock. It will be available to the buyer of this auction for $150 by separate auction. The last photos (44-49) of this stock (in “Large Photos”) are just for your reference.

III. Most of you shopping for a Camp gun already know all about them so I’ve removed them from this description to tidy things up. For those who don't know everything, check out the brochure photos (41-42) in our “Large Photos” or click on our link: Camp Guns Info. This link also has a lot of stuff about C-MORE sights.

IV. Now about the dot size of the sight: The owner lost his paperwork and could not remember what it is, but we both estimate it to be between 4-6 MOA. I tried and tried to take a photo, but could not get a discernable one. I know our estimate is accurate. If you’ve never looked through one of these sights, you won’t believe how super bright they can be adjusted to! From a low-light indoor range to the intense light of the high desert, the adjustable light sensor ensures that it's at home in any environment.

V. Now, let’s talk about the rich, polished plating. The following is a direct quote from the owner’s written consignment description—you gotta read this:

“Traditional gunsmiths are virtually never knowledgeable about plating. Conversely, platers rarely know squat about smithing! I am both an accomplished plater and gunsmith—a very rare, if not totally unique combination. Parts have to be precisely prepared just so, in order to apply the desired thickness of plate, and have them fit properly—and tiny parts are really a bitch to do! So much of the plating I’ve seen (especially gold), on hundreds of various factory (and other custom) guns, was really pathetic. The deficient plating is typically very thin, without the proper base metals underneath the gold. Also, some, maybe all plating companies tend to be real tightwads when it comes to their gold usage. You tell them you want heavy plating, they’ll charge you for it—but will still give you as little as they can get by with! To a lei person (or unknowledgeable gunsmith), a really thin layer of gold (with improper foundation) looks similar to a really decent one. The 24kt gold plating on this gun is substantial and was liberally applied by me personally at a large, high-tech facility—it will last a lifetime! If you took your sight, gun, etc., into most any gunsmith, or the parts into any plating company, you would absolutely never get the ultra-quality plating this gun and sight have!!!”

VI. Ok, after all that, let’s get to condition:  The photos do a better job of depicting overall condition than I can with words. This gun is absolutely like new—there is virtually no detectable wear anywhere! Even the butt-pad is pristine. Normally the stocks that you see on these guns are plain birch without grain patterns. This one has some slight, but appealing visual patterns that nicely reflect light depending on the angles you hold it. I didn’t try to capture them in the photos, but some will show you, anyway. I’m conservatively rating this package between “New Old Stock (NOS), As New or Like New” and “Factory New (NIB)” (see our “Firearm Standards” link under the “Additional Terms of Sale” tab above).

VII. I know my close-up photos sometimes bite me in the ass, but I really want people to see what they’re buying! Hell, you wouldn’t see this much detail if you were looking at one in a shop! I use intense lighting that can give some parts a kind-of "grainy" texture—but, they truly don’t look that way with the naked eye! Again, close-ups biting my butt! Also, there may be some lint, microscopic dust, and a few hairs (probably my shop-dog’s hairs) in the close-ups—they’re not scratches, etc. There may also be a little discoloration in one or more photos because I keep parts wiped down with a KleenBore silicone gun cloth.

VIII. This like-new, near-new, as-new, Deluxe, Marlin Camp 45, with 24kt gold trimmed perfection—is a much better-than-average value! And if you like nice wood stocks on your close-quarter-combat (CQC) guns, the Camp guns are the only game in town! There may be one of more miniscule, ultra-slight imperfections (that most likely came from the factory), but this exquisite carbine is (I think) in collector-quality condition! It’s too nice to shoot—but too fun not to! Yes, the Camp guns are a whole lot of fun to shoot and make excellent Close-Quarter-Combat, family defense guns! It’s certainly a must-have addition to anyone's (shooting or non-shooting) collection! The Consignor said he just wants to make more room in his safe for new stuff...I'd get a bigger safe! Don’t let this one go—to someone else!

IX. Note About Consignors: I know most of you will just ignore this like I’m talking to a wall, but it remains a fact—Consignors can be a fickle bunch when it comes to selling their stuff. Hell, I’ve had them read my (wonderful) descriptions and become re-sold on their items! At any time, if there are no bids, the Consignors can tell me to raise prices or even cancel the auctions! Believe me, I do this way more often than I’d like to. However, as soon as there is a bid, the auctions can’t be stopped, and someone (like you) is going to get that/this gun, etc.! So (if you haven’t guessed it) the moral of this short-story is once you’ve made the decision to buy—don’t wait until the last minute to bid.
