I. Now
why Marlin quit making their venerable “Camp” guns is beyond me! The only
possibility I can think of is they might have been just too expensive to
manufacture for the times. There’s a lot of precise, quality engineering in
these guns and I guess they just couldn’t sell them for enough profit to
continue the line. And if you like nice wood stocks on your
close-quarter-combat (CQC) guns, the Camp guns are really the only game in
town.
II. Most
of you shopping for a Camp gun already know all about them. For those who
don't, read the following:
"The Model 45 is an ideal plinking,
varmint, and home defense firearm. The Model 45 meets the demand for a sporting
carbine with classic lines chambered for the ever-popular 45acp cartridge.
Marlin offers this increasingly popular caliber in one of the most innovative
self-loading carbines we've ever made. The 16˝ inch barrel is highly accurate
with our "Micro-Groove" rifling technology. The receiver is machined
from a solid block of steel, and is drilled and tapped for a scope. The clip
magazine holds seven rounds and is completely encased in a sturdy housing,
integral with the trigger guard. Its rugged self-loading action represents one
of the latest Marlin design achievements. The Model 45 is also loaded with
safety features, including a Garand-type safety within the trigger guard,
manual and automatic last-shot bolt hold-open features, loaded chamber
indicator, and magazine safety disconnector which prevents firing when the
magazine has been removed. Sights include an adjustable folding rear, and a
ramp front sight with a high-visibility front sight post and cutaway hood. Its
16˝ inch barrel produces some impressive velocity and energy improvements over
handgun ballistics from a 5 inch barreled 45 handgun.
III. How about
some info on the sight? Here are quotes from C-MORE:
“Definitely the most versatile C-MORE
sight, the Railway mounts to all Weaver and Picatinny rail style scope mounts
he Railway sight quickly attaches to Weaver and Picatinny rail style scope
mounts. The Railway sight quickly attaches to Weaver and Picatinny rail style
scope mounts. This enables the Railway to be attached to virtually anything!
Shotguns, rifles, handguns, revolvers, crossbows, paint ball guns; these are
just a few of the applications the Railway has seen. With each model, you
choose the color of the sight and the size of the dot. Unlike
traditional tube style scopes which can obstruct the field of view and cause a
"tunnel vision" effect, the C-MORE Heads-Up Display provides an
unobstructed sight picture in which the red dot hovers on the sight line,
illuminating the point of impact on the target, creating the fastest target
acquisition in existence. Both eyes open operation allows full use of your
peripheral vision. This allows you to quickly identify and acquire targets
without leaving your sight picture.”
IV. More quotes
from C-MORE:
“The C-MORE uses a 29mm beam-splitter lens
made of glass, not plastic. The lens is hard coated for maximum scratch
resistance while the parallax free design enables targets to be acquired
without the need to center the dot in the lens. Basically, the dot can be
located anywhere in the lens and it will represent the point of impact, even if
the lens is shattered or obstructed”. If you want to know everything about
